Ear Wax Removal Candles And Ear Cones
When I first decided to put this website together I planned on searching out information that would bolster the art of candling for the removal of ear wax. After doing research for this site I am not quite as sure now that ear cones are very safe to use. I am going to try to present information that covers all sides of the issue. You decide. "Ear candling," is also known as auricular candling or coning. It has been practiced for thousands of years going back to the ancient Chinese, Egyptians and Greeks. There is even a Hopi ear candle said to be used by our American Indians. Ear candles are made of cotton or linen that’s wound into a cone shape, soaked in wax or beeswax, and then allowed to harden. In use, the ear candle is placed with the narrow end in the ear canal and then lit on fire. The way it is supposed to work is that the burning candle creates a low level vacuum that draws out the ear wax and other debris up into the hollow cone. There is a dark waxy mass left in the candle when finished which is said to be the wax drawn out of the ear. Some people have burned ear wax removal candles without putting them in an ear and got the same dark waxy mass. You decide. Many if not most people think that it is necessary to remove ear wax. There are others that think that it should not be done at all. It might even be harmful to remove the wax not just because you can damage the ear by the method used but that ear wax is beneficial to the ear. Under ideal circumstances, the ear canals should never have to be cleaned. It cleans and lubricates the ear, and can protect the ear canal from bacteria and fungus. I guess by now you can see which side I am leaning toward. So check it out, think about it and you decide.
